Showcase: Benjamin wins ($28,452 in prizes); “Cave” Showcase, Espresso Maker, Range, and Travel Trailer

“Welcome, welcome to The Price is Right”, Bob said to today’s audience. Our host reminded Leslie, who does not consider herself a shopper, that she had to spend as much as $6000 to win Shopping Spree. She chose the Hutch over the Picnic Baskets and became today’s first winner on stage. Bob noticed the photograph of himself on the Hutch and jokingly said that it was a young Errol Flynn. Washington, D.C. resident and Maryland native Dorothy somehow missed the Wristwatch featured as today’s second Item Up for Bids, yet she managed to win her way on stage. She took a better look at the Nasal Spray before choosing that item in Grand Game. With $1000 and one item left, Dorothy had a good chance of winning $10,000. Unfortunately, she decided to choose the Gold Bond Lotion over the Tidy Cats litter. “An American legend”, Bruce said to Bob upon his arrival on stage. Immediately after being called to come on down, Benjamin was already being called “Big Ben” by our host. In Race Game, Benjamin had the Popcorn Cart and Server prices beside their respective prizes before pulling the lever the first time to reveal “2”. He realized after pulling the lever the second time (revealed “0”) that the two said prizes had their correct prices. Kimberly’s reaction to the Chevy Aveo (painted in her favorite color of orange, which is also her shirt’s color) was worthy of the extra camera time she got. Melissa (or “Melinda” until Bob discovered her actual name on the nametag) decided that she’s “Going” to bed, specifically the Campy Bed featured in Coming or Going. Kimberly scored 10 cents in both spins of the Big Wheel in Showcase Showdown #2. Today’s Showcase featured rocks, things rhyming with “pie” (including “pi”), and an Italian Holiday package. We end this week’s worth of shows with Benjamin and his crew in front of the Travel Trailer. Good day!

Showcase Showdown #2: John wins with $1.00 ($1000)

Showcase: John wins ($47,791 in prizes); “Inga the Inventor” Showcase, Trip to Cape Cod, Massachusetts, Camper, and Dodge Ram

Bob still remembers the last time Flip Flop was played, when he mistakenly pushed the reveal button too soon, but it did not affect the outcome of the game. Like many viewers at home, Georgielyn was surprised to learn that she was witnessing the show’s newest Pricing Game, More or Less (see game description below). Unfortunately for Georgielyn, a Washer/Dryer set fooled her into thinking that it’s actual price was more than $2100. Half Off player Brenda almost picked Box #3 based on the number of children she has and years of marriage (30). Susan heard the car horn four times in One Away, but changing the middle number to “6” was not very difficult. Today’s Showcase featured an inventor, a couple of Dodge automobiles, and movie theater gift cards. We end this week’s worth of shows with a new Dodge Ram owner and more time to reflect upon More or Less.

More or Less - Four prizes are offered, including a grand prize behind the doors. The first three prizes are grouped in one row. Besides each prize is a wrong price and the correct price is concealed. For each prize, the contestant must decide whether the actual price is more or less than the wrong price in view. If the contestant wins the first three prizes, that person can play for the grand prize.

Today’s Airing of The Price is Right

Freeze Frame: Jennifer wins; Cruise to Alaska ($4534)

Let ‘Em Roll: Robert wins $1500; Chrysler PT Cruiser

Plinko: Jose wins $500 with 4 Plinko chips

Showcase Showdown #1: Jose wins with 80 cents

One Wrong Price: Robin wins; Luggage, Couple of Chairs, and Barbecue Grill (Wrong Price $450)

Dice Game: Gay wins; Chevy Cobalt ($14,234)

Take Two: Lynette lost (Golf Equipment and Yard Tools Total $1991); Two Sets of Golf Equipment, Candle Sticks, Washer/Dryer, and Yard Tools

Showcase Showdown #2: Gay wins with 95 cents

Showcase: Gay wins ($43,731 in prizes); “Lost & Found” Showcase, Electric Guitar, Home Gym , and Ski Boat

Jennifer was very wise to bid $1001 on a $3000 Floor Clock. She had once frozen a price too soon, but she convinced Bob that it was her own mistake. Before stagehand “Big” Dave could put Freeze Fame back into motion, Bob requested that he reveal himself for a second. A few seconds later, Jennifer froze her chosen (winning) price. Viewers could see what appeared to be the arm of show producer Roger Dobkowitz as he congratulated Jennifer on stage. Bob mistakenly called Robert by the name “Robin” before the Big Doors revealed the Chrysler automobile. Our host corrected himself a couple of seconds later. Much of the audience said the Glad trash bags were higher in price than Udder Cream, but Robert disagreed and said “lower”, thus costing him an additional roll. In spite of only two rolls, Robert leaves today’s show $1500 richer. Jose, a sailor in the Navy had 3 Plinko fall into the $0 slot, but the last chip gained him $500 among the prizes he’s won today. After a commercial break, Bob revealed that he and the audience were discussing his role in the motion picture “Happy Gilmore” and the chance of another role in the future. Since he openly said that after retirement he would no longer be associated with CBS and Fremantle Media, a nude role in a horror picture is possible. A very funny and memorable moment for viewers of today’s show, I must say. Without hesitation, loyal viewer Robin chose the Barbecue Grill in One Wrong Price, but she still consulted with members of the audience for a few seconds. Bob was quick when he asked for three digits in the price of the Chevy automobile in Dice Game, since Gay’s first three dice rolls were without doubt. Lynette kept the Golf Equipment on both chances, but was unfortunately nowhere near the Yard Tools in more ways than one. Today’s Showcase featured two Motorcycles, an Electric Guitar, and a Ski Boat. Since Jose’s Showcase bid of $60,000 was without a doubt too high, Gay bid $1 on her Showcase. We end today’s show with Gay and her crew (all dressed in black shirts and jeans) in front of the Ski Boat.

Showcase: Katherine wins ($32,721 in prizes) “The Price is Right Scrolls” Showcase, Diamond Ring, Trip to Paris, France, and Chrysler PT Cruiser

Karisma, whose name is based on the word “charisma”, received enormous negative reaction when she chose the price higher than the Pontiac automobile’s actual retail price in Triple Play. Viewers of today’s show witnessed the debut of two greyhounds up for adoption, including with one an injured leg, but the two appeared to be in good spirits. $6995 appeared to be correct for the Hot Tub, but Rhonda decided not to risk pushing all the other blocks in Pushover. Mackenzie looked forward to becoming the proud owner of a surfboard of her very own, but that dream ended when she had to choose between some Stemware and the Guitar. Rhonda’s first spin of the Big Wheel was an attempt at getting $1.00, but members of the audience booing before the wheel stopped at 5 cents probably did not understand. Mark shouted “that’s too much!” perfectly in practice and at the right time. Wearing an Alabama Crimson Tide shirt, Delores stood up the moment our announcer Rich said her first name only. Brian made no mistakes in Now or Then. Today’s Showcase featured scrolls, a “priceless train depot”, and a Chrysler PT Cruiser. After Mackenzie made her bid, we all realized there was a problem displaying the prices in the Showcase podiums. The problem was solved during the following commercial break. We end today’s show with Katherine as the winner with a Showcase difference of about $400. Mackenzie leaves today’s show with memories of being a “charming contestant”, according to Bob.

On the day marking his 83rd year of life (December 12th), Bob made his entrance down the aisle on today’s show. After two requests by our host, Phillip said the name of today’s first Pricing Game, Golden Road. Without much thought about the “5” at the end of the price of the Sofa, Phillip believed the second digit was also “5”. Sonya’s second hole in the Punchboard had $1000, but she decided to give that way. Somehow, Bob got lost on his way to the fourth hole before realizing that he was reaching into the first hole again. Maggie, a 1-year-old dog made her debut on today’s show, and it became a memorable debut when she was free to walk the stage. Our announcer Rich treated Maggie very well. Billy’s bid on a Riding Lawn Mower seemed too low to his fellow contestants. Unfortunately for them, their bids were too high. Kevin would have won Grocery Game with a price total between $20.00 and $21.00 had he not purchased more than one Gold Bond Lotion. Today’s Showcase featured prizes for every room of the house, “Sandy the Surfer”, and a Pontiac G6 being used as a surfboard. We end today’s show with Daniel surrounded by “Every Room of the House”.
