Rich Fields is out and Don Bishop is in! Know what we viewers get, many days of suffering under those Paul Boland-like tones of his. Thank goodness for the power of laughter that helped me get through the pain that was Don’s announcing. Expect his votes in the CBS.com announcer poll to be very low. Brian of Virginia wore a “Bob Barker/Happy Gilmore for President” shirt for today’s show. Kimberly thought she doesn’t do well when being timed, but she successfully proved herself wrong. Bob literally turned James around to show the entire audience his shirt proving he’s from Memphis, Tennessee (or MempJames, since his nametag was blocking the “his”). We’ve had another fan of the Dice Game and that would be its latest winner under the interesting name Araceli. This ought to make some Alabama Crimson Tide fans feel uneasy, Anna happens to be a Georgia Bulldogs fan. We end today’s show with resident beautify Araceli as today’s Showcase winner with a difference bellow $1000. See y’all next week!

Nicole representing a group of school-teachers shows off her skills of being hyperactive on her way to Contestant’s Row. Craig had something else on mind other than two items up for bids and that would be Teri. I’m sure it was the full head of hair that got him. Richardson Fields pronounced Emile’s name “Emily”, almost creating a big situation in the hands of Price. Looks like Ruklanthi and Walburga finally have male competition for “Contestant Name of the Year”. Craig escaped Contestant’s Row without distraction, but ends up seeing Teri once again, this time in the driver seat of a Ford Taurus. I wonder if the excellence of Teri’s hair played a part in Craig lost in That’s Too Much (preventing a perfect show)? No, I wouldn’t blame a model for a contestant’s lost, but in Craig’s case. And now, a small performance starring Angela and Craig as the Showcase Showdown presents “The Pot Hole Fix”. That was one worthy of the title “Priceless Moment”.

Danielle wore a shirt which she says also belonged to her mother showed her status of being unemployed. $37 or $31 difference in Magic #, Bob will figure that one out later. Michael was the only one of the first three that made it on stage not to have a relative on the show long ago. Elaine (Iverson) and Elaine the contestant escort (second one as of recent) of the Rambling Rows Organization brought a plaque honoring Bob. “Danny-Elle” and “Er-Rika” Bob’s pronunciations of Danielle and Erika, well mostly for the former.

(Up to this very day, I still believe "Danny-Elle" is the proper pronunciation of Danielle. No offence to those under the name, but I just seem to prefer said pronunciation.)

We began this week with Art’s second show as announcer. Another day with Art Sanders as announcer! Representing the great state of Alabama (my state), Maryanne! Adrianna only watched the show occasionally, so that must explain getting her one of her Plinko chips stuck 3 times in a row. “1999, a good year” quoting Bob after mentioning one of the prices in Barker’s Markers. Thanks to a choice of two boxes of Tylenol, Patricia hit the bullseye on the first try. No “keep goings” or “higher”, but “yeah” when Jamie kept going moving on in That’s Too Much. After Bob’s attempt to make Martin a really big winner “Tony the Tiger” style, we find out Triple Play is soon to be played. The audience is to thank for Martin even reaching the Dodge Dakota, so he relied mostly on them for the rest of the game. Emily, who’s first words to Bob on stage were “I love you!” who’s lucky number happens to be 11 (also the amount of time spent on winning the table), proves her Price knowledge includes the legendary Clock Game. After her Clock Game victory, we find Emily celebrating with Roger & Company a couple of seconds away. If only Eliana didn’t go way off target with the first item (10 boxes of pasta = $25.90), she would have conquered the eye of the bull. Horace’s first bid in Contestant’s Row was neither $2500, $3500, or even $5500, but $4500 on a motorcycle. Mahali performed a Most Expensive victory dance of some sorts for us. April, a “First Four” contestant, unfortunately pull the ultimate comeback of today’s show. At first, it appeared to be an unlucky day for Horace, then the Big Wheel rolled in for him. Our two comeback contestants (thanks to the Big Wheel) witnessed the return of the eliminator of unwanted gifts, the Prizenator (starring Rachel) in Showcase #1, which was later passed to Eliana. It was tough, but Horace managed to pull through at the end, even though his first bid in Contestant’s Row was almost outrageously high. Sorry folks, no Rich on stage since this show was taped before he got himself more time on camera.

I wonder what that audience was chanting as Bob welcomed all to today’s show? Sounded like, “Bob, Bob, Bob!” Unbelievable! Brittany, a former high school student from Colorado, a life long resident of North America, has never seen Price in all her 18 years of life. Bob joked telling her to leave to stage (with audience applause) and she took it very well. Folks, we have an all new loyal friend & true in our debt after winning “Switch?” Before our next item up for bids was revealed, Bob assured us that Amy has viewed the show previously. Amy’s long bout with the Punchboard ended with not $100, $50, or $100 again, but a slip worth $10,000! Rich had no need to fear the audience’s separate opinions (low voices said “yeah!” and high voices said “no!”) on what gender should be called to come on down next. Christina was the lucky lady to make the run to Contestant’s Row after that situation. Lets see, Spade/Neuter stamp pictures featured with a pool table, oh yeah it’s time for Gizmo the Dog to be introduced. Looks like an member of the audience wants to adopt Gizmo already, but first she must get to the SPCA LA shelter quick. James represents the Omaha (Nebraska) Police Department while playing today’s Card Game. Brittany continues to amaze loyal Price viewers as she spins the Big Wheel for 95 cents. If only Suzette had done the opposite of Brittany’s playing of “Switch?” with those 2 prizes, she would have won all 4 Race Game prizes. Scott escapes Contestant’s Row at last for a little passing of the buck! Yet another “First Four” contestant finally escapes and that would Elliot. Too bad he continued to push when he had the correct price of $7248. Brittany didn’t need the viewing experience of Price to successfully complete her journey from Colorado to today’s Showcase and back with a total of $42,605 in prizes.

(Burton) Richardson “Rich” Fields continues to show off his announcing skills. Bob brings up an “Items Up for Bids” with a surfboard from many moons ago involving this lady bidding $9000. Luckily, nobody bid that before Bob told us this tale. It was a real struggle getting from “1” to “2” during Ellen’s playing of Cover Up. Looks like the folks at the dormitories are the only ones that are happy that Jeffrey didn’t win the drum set. Introducing, Troy the Dog (Ellen and Troy, that would be an interesting combination)! Even with Bob suggesting that Katherine shouldn’t worry about the mathematics, she still added $1000 to her bid for a Ford Focus after picking the all-important ace. We went from 5 cents to a tie of 95 cents in Showcase Showdown #2. It’s “Monday Morning” on CBS and here again is Little Teri (in skirt and has more hair) showing off the art of today’s first Showcase prizes (Trip to Ireland, Motorcycle, and Boat). I wonder what Charles Osgood’s take on the artwork would be?

Bob asks future dentist Gregory about the current condition of his teeth, but quickly moves on to the Check Game. Amazing, he went over $6000 by only $20! Oh well, the check wasn’t fit to be in the bank in its condition anyway (crossed out number and such). Mark of the Navy’s assignment: Walk the path of “Numeral Waters” to a Dodge Caravan. Assignment: Failed! Both Gregory and Amanda ended up with nickels on the Big Wheel. As the price of the sofa was revealed again, part of the sign broke as Candace revealed it. Yep, she should definitely stay with the show! As Dana walked up on stage to play It’s In The Bag, viewers can hear a clear as a whistle “wolf whistle”. I wonder if that “Property of Bob Barker” (not really, or is it?) sweater added to Dana’s beauty some how? Frederick, former General Motors employee, from Salem, Ohio (Population 30,000 – 1, the minus was him on that day), asked the audience for agreement on the second number being higher than 5. Mark’s final mission was to deliver 12 Monopoly board games to the Las Vegas Naval Office in a brand new convertible. Mission: Success!

Art Sanders has returned! Yet, he’s still kind of slow. Bob assured viewers through certain points of today’s show that we would get back on the winning track. An amazing second showdown we had today, with Bobbie Jo and Virginia both winning $1000 and competing in a spin off/bonus spin. Also returning to Price is the grinning Lanisha. Wonder how long will it take until they realize she’s no good at her position? Gasp! Another change besides the announcer and models, except this one will last longer. The Showcase podiums have been changed slightly. Now the price displays are above the name “Showcase”. We end today’s show with a double showcase winner, also known as Bayard. Amazing, a $100 difference!

Joseph, a loyal friend & true since he was a “wee tot” as Bob described him was rewarded the prize for anyone under that title, a gas powered vehicle. After hugging Bob, Joseph bowed to the audience. Some members of the audience were amazed over Half Off’s sound effect as half of the boxes featured on 3 rows were removed. Ollie became Half Off’s 2nd winner as $10,000 in cash poured out of Box #10. Not even the digit’s in the price of the bed knew whether they were “Coming or Going”, as Bob described his trouble of “Coming”. We found out that Ollie has plans on using a portion of her winnings to go back to school. I guess Half Off’s length of time explains why viewers were unable to hear Rich give out the ticket address, along with viewing the rest of Joseph’s reaction. Scott was up and ready for $500, but first he must complete place Bob’s markers beside their rightful prices. There turned out to be something more to Effie than I even imagined after her great escape from Contestant’s Row. After defeating the “That’s Too Much” price line (one price ahead managed to show up after price #2 was revealed. Anyway, it didn't effect the game at all.), Effie made her grand run to her Pontiac Vibe. Nope, she didn’t drive, but she did get out for the run back to Bob. Another “Joe” joins us, a Josefa to be exact. We found out that Josefa’s mother, a Price viewer herself is 101 years of age. That’s 1 year ahead a fellow contestant (played Switcharoo: The Unlimited Time Version) that recently turned the big 1-0-0.


Showcase Showdown: Effie Steals the Show!

Scott, Josefa, and Bob were unaware of the upcoming events in the Showdown involving a hyper Effie. As she was saying hello to plenty of relatives, a certain spot on the Big Wheel marked “$1.00” was coming down for a stop in the middle. After Bob got her attention, she jumped in victory while making a run beside the Turntable and the Big Wheel. With the possibility of injury in mind, Bob hid beside the Big Wheel clutching his microphone. After her famous run, Effie finds out that her shoes went loose. After spinning the Big Wheel for an extra $10,000, this time Effie ran across the stage while a semi-frightened Bob carries those shoes belonging to her. After performing her next act in victory, “The Price Floor Angel” (spreading her arms and legs on the floor), Bob was brave enough to return those pesky shoes. We end today’s Showcase Showdown #2 with Bob’s final facial reaction. Another moment for the archives!

Andrew showed loyalty and true before receiving the chance to play the big favorite among Price viewers, $50,000 ($1500 today) Plinko. For the second time in year 32, Race Game was completed on the first try! Bob discovered 3 pronunciations of Rita, who remained in Contestant’s Row ‘til the very end. Ri Ta and Roe Ta are among those pronunciations. Joshua would later reveal to Bob via whisper that he would only bring along his father to Spain. Another fast and furious contestant, that would be Beverly of course! Rita had the chance to show her love of the show and Bob incase she doesn’t make it up on stage. The “Upgrade Showcase” (Jean won this one) included an upgrade from a Gameboy to an arcade cabinet. I expected the upgrade to be an NES.

In addition to putting up with Roger for the next few shows, we have the grinning Lanisha again. Contestant shirts included today are Naseem’s classic “Hi Mom” and Aaron’s interesting countdown in seconds from birth to today’s show. In other words, it was Aaron’s birthday that day. Katherine got the price of the first product exactly right and you know what that means? Of course you do, but for those who don’t know, that means she wins all 3 cards. Speaking of 3s, it took 3 times for Leon to say he’s really ready for Time is Money. Nice “lightborder shot” of Leon and his folks celebrating! We are reminded today that a good knowledge of geography can help contestants win trips. Eleanor got to show her love for Bob while in Contestant’s Row earlier in the show. Too bad she didn’t make it up on stage.

Burton’s out (for now) and Art is in as announcer! His voice is sort of a combination of Charlie O. and John Harvey, former announcer of Double Dare, only slower. Surprise, the Fiji Water was not 55 cents as I thought it was in “It’s In The Bag”. Shocking, isn’t it? Another surprise, in a good way is Dave’s only choice in “5 Price Tags” being the right price. “…day after day, month after month, year after year, century after century, millenium after millenium, I need more money call my agent” quoting Bob after Christina spoke of his work as host. Art ranks above Daniel is announcing, but he just doesn’t compare to Burton and Randy. Improvement is always possible as Art will be announcing on Monday’s show.

Walburga ranks as one my favorite names so far this year on Price, along with Ruklanthi. Bob really had everyone fooled that he was moving on after Rebecca won $5,000 and she waved the slip in the last hole she punched very quick to the audience. Another rotation, so we got Rachel, yet we still have Rich Burt (Burton Richardson).


(Walburga's name remains stuck in my mind! Sorry folks, still have no idea what was on Rebecca's last prize slip. Funny I came up with the name "Rich Burt" for Burton and that was before Mr. Rich Fields came into the lives of Price viewers everywhere.)

Jay promised everyone those flashlights, but failed to keep the promise as he lost in Line ‘Em Up. Yep, Sherry remembered her boy’s word on not forgetting her last name and the fact she’s would be on national TV. Future police officer Joshua was off and ready to drive his Pontiac after his Let ‘Em Roll win. Bob stumbled a bit over his words that the second Showcase Showdown is next, so he said it nice and slow. “Train Depot Showcase” conductor was Brandi (still on the show, thank goodness).

The pants were doing it again, so Bob summons staffer Robin to the rescue for a little spraying. Even called her, “the lovely Robin”. Joan may have lost, but she still gave Bob a Montreal, Canada T-shirt during Showcase Showdown #1. Georgia the Cat was brought out by Candice (another model). After Eric ran over to the turntable after his last pull in Race Game, Bob says he almost ran over to “The Bold and the Beautiful”. We were ever so on the verge of a no winner show until Katherine won Pick A Pair.

Bad move asking for agreement with the audience and Bob during “Switch?”, Gerald. The audience comes through in agreeing that Gerald shouldn’t spin again after getting 95 cents. Surprise, I’m back online after getting web access again.

Unless the former Game Show Network changes their ways, the only way we can view classic Price on TV nowadays through A&E's (and Biography Channel's) airings of Bob's BIOGRAPHY.
